WIP GT 900 KR

Memorial Day Rendering: Ford Mustang GT900KR

An evolution of the Mach x1 from earlier, with a "Global Ford" EVOS concept inspired front fascia, retaining the Leno-esque profile.  I also made a GIF of the steps at which I stopped heretofore.  There are still some details I have to add, and I'm not sold on the rear but I want to do a rear view to show how much wrap is going on back there- why it looks so short in this view.  Whatchu think?

  1. I like it dude.

That is a really solid rendering, the only thing I think you could work on a little is the side profile.

The vent you've got going over the rear wheel is the only part that doesn't feel "ford" to me. I think there are several interesting ford concepts you could draw from. Like one solid extruded form and maybe one cool detail.

    Suggestions include
    Shelby GR-1
    IOSIS concept
or even like a 60's mustang with the iconic mustang side scoop

Just some thoughts. Looks killer though

  2. LOL Thanks.
Your side vent argument is invalid, since that feature along with its forward spear and deletion of the rear quarter window is heavily inspired by the 1969 Mach 1 - the Mustang I'd have the hardest time not buying. Observe:

That scoop is one that hasn't been revisited, and I think the 64.5-68 scoop has been a little played out.

  3. I really dig the Leno-fied front fascia. All the updates are improvements in my eyes. It's got a very aggressive forward slope, as if it's thrusting through the air with ease. The front 3/4 of the car definitely on point, but I'd agree with Ian that the rear doesn't look very Ford or American. i.e. the scrotum.

Maybe it's the slope and shape of the tail. I see it looking more European, with hints of a BMW Z and Cayman. I think I'm just used to the American muscles cars having a more abrupt/chopped back, like the current mustang, vette, challenger, etc.

The door cut line offset to the rear fender vent is super cool. And of course your rendering capabilities still astonish me. Lets see a rear!

  4. Thanks. You're right- although I'm not 100% sure where the car's scrotals would be located, I can't deny it's European influences. The proportions for one are aped from the SLS AMG (base image). The intention here wasn't as much to make a muscle car as it was a Grand Tourer, along the lines of a 599 or F12 Berlinetta, SLS AMG LFA or Viper. Just as other car names move up and become more affluent with time as their owners do (3 Series is the perfect example of this effect- bigger, faster and more expensive, effectively the 1 Series now serves the 3's original place in the market) this Mustang would be the step up for the aficionado who's owned several originals and is shopping for something more refined.

    1. Ahhh yes, when I view it in that light it all makes sense. The resemblance to the Mustang's front fascia is what made me assume this was aimed to be more muscle car then super tourer.

I still want to see the rear view :)
I like the amount of overhang the side view has. Those proportions work very well. I think you lose a bit of it in front 3/4 with the wrapping of the rear.

  5. rear view or bust. I also don't believe the tale about the ford enthusiast who has owned multiple mustangs and now is looking for something with a v16 2 seats, long wheel base, electromagnetic hydro smoothe float glide supsension and high price tag. Lets be honest, mustang owners aren't that refined.

Why not just be honest and say this is for someone Lacking Colla!!!! ;)
